Road accidents are a serious social problem in Sri Lanka as well as in many countries of the world. These accidents result in loss of life, injuries and property damage. Therefore, it is very important to educate school children about road safety from an early age. Accordingly, the main objective of these awareness programs is to pay more attention to road safety among school children and thereby bequeath a disciplined generation to the society and thereby reduce the number of road accidents in the country.
Continuous education of school students on traffic safety and road discipline is very important to reduce accidents and create responsible, disciplined and decent drivers. These programs were successfully conducted under the full guidance of the Central Provincial Transport Commissioner, with the resource contribution of Kandy Traffic Police Officer Praneeth Sachanthana Bandara, and with the support of the Principal and staff of Weera Parakrama National School.
