A special program to educate government officials was held on July 31 at the premises of the Central Provincial Transport Department for the National Supilipan Week under the theme of a Supilipan Culture – a Clean Sri Lanka.
Good ethics, discipline, respect, responsible behavior and ethical actions are essential for a public servant in performing his duties. A good public servant must serve the public with respect and fairness, he or she abides by the law, and upholds honesty, transparency and accountability. And efforts should be made to provide equal service to all citizens without bias.
Prosperity increases people’s confidence in public service and helps reduce corruption and irregularities. This is an important basis for building an efficient, effective and people-friendly public administration. Accordingly, there is a very close relationship between Supilipana and the public servant, and it is essential that every public servant should adopt Supilipana qualities in order to maintain a good public service. Organized with the aim of further strengthening discipline, responsibility and good citizenship values in the public service, the resource contribution for this awareness program was given by the Director (Procurement) of the Central Province Chief Secretariat, Mr. Lalith Dasanayake.
